Mara Bergman

Mara Bergman is an award-winning author, poet and editor who has written over twenty books for young children.

Her picture book titles include Bears, Bears Everywhere, illustrated by Helen Craig, Snip Snap Alligator, illustrated by Nick Maland and winner of the Stockport Children's Book Award, Oliver Who Would Not Sleep and Oliver Who Travelled Far and Wide, which won a Booktrust Early Years Award.

Born in New York and raised on Long Island, USA, Mara now works in London and lives in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Mike Tucker

Mike Tucker is an author specialising in books for children and young adults, and has written several original ‘Doctor Who’ novels, a number of Merlin novelisations, and original fiction for other shared universes. He has also written numerous factual books relating to film and television, including a history of the BBC’s Visual Effects Department, where he used to work.

Alongside his writing, Mike works as a Visual Effects Designer, and his company - The Model Unit - recently won a BAFTA Craft Award for its miniature effects work on the 50th anniversary Doctor Who episode The Day of the Doctor.

Charlotte Guillain

Charlotte Guillain taught English to air traffic controllers and nurses before deciding a career in publishing would endanger fewer lives.

They have written several picture books together including Supermarket Gremlins, School for Dads and the George's Amazing Adventures series.

Paul Mason

Paul's books cover a wide range of subjects, from whether the Romans ate crisps to how to build the world's best skatepark, but he writes mostly about sport.

Whether you are interested in swimming or cycling, snowboarding, surfing or another sport, Paul has probably written something that will inspire you to get out and give it a try.

Paul writes in a shack by the beach, which he shares with his one-eyed surf dog, Daisy.

Elen Caldecott

Elen Caldecott graduated with an MA in Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University and was highly commended in the PFD Prize for Most Promising Writer for Young People.

Before becoming a writer, she was an archaeologist, a nurse, a theatre usher and a museum security guard. Elen's debut novel, How Kirsty Jenkins Stole the Elephant, was shortlisted for the Waterstone's Children's Prize and longlisted for the 2010 Carnegie Medal.
