In Rebekah, Orson Scott Card has created an astonishing personality, complex and intriguing, and her story will engage your heart as it captures your imagination.Born into a time and place where a woman speaks her mind at her peril, Rebekah was raised by a doting father to be be a stunning, headstrong beauty. She refused all suitors, until an emissary from the Patriarch Abraham arrived, to win her for Abraham's son Isaac. Rebekah's story is perhaps the most romantic in the Bible--a tale of love at first sight in a marriage arranged by others. The unlooked for romance between Isaac and Rebekah is a counterpoint to Rebekah's struggle to find her place within the powerful clan of the Patriarch. It is only when she finds her own relationship with the God they worship that she can finally discover her true purpose in life.
