After his car breaks down in a small town, a veteran crime reporter spends the afternoon on the porch of a gentle farmer he has met. As the reporter prepares to leave he reflects on how he wishes he lived in a small town where the worst crime is chicken stealing. The famer rises to enter his home and says, "You just spent the afternoon with the worst criminal this town ever produced." The reporter is surprised and confused. The reporter talked to various people in town to learn the about the life of this farmer. He learned that the farmer has been repenting his entire life of a mistake he made as a young man. Each individual he interviews has had his or her life changed by their association with this farmer. Each learned about themselves as they learned about the basic principles of repentance and the character of God. The life of the reporter is changed as he experiences this spiritual journey with this remarkable farmer.
