Excerpt from Scalacronica: A Chronicle of England and Scotland From A. D. 1066 to 1362 Walter, archdeacon of Oxford (not of Exeter, as in the Prologue, p. Was not, as stated by Gray, the translator of this tissue of absurdities, miscalled history; he only communicated the original British manuscript in which they were contained to Geoffrey of Monmouth, who gave them their Latin garb. No copy of this original is believed to have survived except that in the library of Jesus College, Oxford.
