Excerpt from Secretary's Third Report, 1909: Harvard College, Class of 1899 On the occasion of our Decennial, in accordance with cus tom, I present a report which aims to give in your own words the story of what each one of you has been doing, in the past ten years. I wish it had been possible to get an answer from every member of our glorious Class but there are still sev eral who do not take enough interest to furnish me with the information and more, no doubt, who for the same reason did not know I wanted it. I am glad to say I have been able through the columns of The Decennial to locate a good many who had been among the lost, but there were others whose addresses on my list proved wrong. Some of these have been corrected, however, and the net result is the least number of lost men we have ever had. There are still too many in this class.

Since 1905 when the last pamphlet was published ten mem bers have died: Harold Poole H{untress, Winthrop Evarts Brown, Walter Livingston Cutting, Edward Winslow Stevens, Frederick Augustus Emerson, William Harold Millard, Leon ard Francis Nicoll, John Stringer Tilney, J r., Theodore Sedg wick Watson, and Charles Whitney Ward. This makes a total of twenty-eight deaths since we first came together in 1895. I have tried to include in this report a short story of the lives of those twenty-eight men written in each case by a member of the family. It has been impossible to make it complete, as I was unable to get track of relatives in some cases. I acknowledge most gratefully, the assistance I have received from the Har vard Alumni Association, and many classmates, in tracing men who had not kept me informed as to their whereabouts, and from many more who often write me about themselves. It isonly by the constant cooperation of all of you in this and other ways that we can, as the years go by, keep alive that Class Spirit for which '99 shall be forever famous.
