The town of Wally Heights, Alabama has little to offer eleven-year-old Stephen besides complete boredom. His only excitement is figuring out the mystery of what watches him from an old, abandoned building. Stephen and his next-door neighbor, Wendy, visit the abandoned building, hoping to learn more about what watches them and why. But is what they learn too much? Stephen and Wendy soon become unwilling adventurers in a spooky quest that many children before them have failed to conquer. Mid-journey, they both realize one unfortunate truth: turning back is not an option.
