Teresa Heapy

Teresa Heapy recently went from publishing books for Oxford University Press to writing books. She is the author of the Very Little series, including Very Little Red Riding Hood, which won Best Picture Book in the Oxfordshire Children’s Book Award and the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards.

She lives in Oxford, England, with her husband and three children.

Kate Scott

Kate Scott was born in London of American parents. She has lived in Hong Kong, Paris, Scotland and two tiny villages in France, but now lives in Dorset with her husband and two children. Kate's poems have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and her short fiction on Radio 4 Extra.

Her first published children's novel was Boy in Tights which developed into the three-book series, Spies in Disguise. Kate leads poetry workshops for children in conjunction with Tor Theatre and runs creative writing sessions with bookshops and schools across the UK.

Abie Longstaff

Abie Longstaff is the eldest of six children and grew up in Australia, Hong Kong and France. She knows all about squabbling and bossing younger sisters around so she began her career as a barrister.

She started writing when her children were born. Her books include The Fairytale Hairdresser series and The Magic Potions Shop books. She has a life-long love of fairy tales and mythology and her work is greatly influenced by these themes.

Abie got the idea for the Trapdoor Mysteries from her parents' house in France. The house is big and old, with lots of rooms and outbuildings. In one of the bedrooms, there is a secret entrance hidden in a fireplace. It leads to a room that was used by the French Resistance during the war. It was the perfect idea for a book!

Abie lives with her family by the seaside in Hove.

Peter Bently

Peter Bently is the award-winning bestselling picture book author of Shark in the Dark, Lark in the Ark, The Great Dog Bottom Swap and Cats Ahoy!

He won the Roald Dahl Funny Prize in 2011.

Sarah Horne

Sarah Horne grew up in snowy Derbyshire, UK with some goats and a brother. She learnt to draw whilst trying to explain her reasoning for an elaborate haircut at the age of nine.

Alongside working on some very funny children’s titles, Sarah has also worked on commissions for The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Kew Gardens, Sesame Street and for IKEA as their Children’s Illustrator In Residence.

She now draws, paints, writes and giggles from underneath a pile of paper at her studio in London.

Jonny Lambert

Jonny Lambert grew up in Surrey and always knew he wanted to be an artist of some sort. Encouraged by his art tutor at the Reigate School of Art and Design, Jonny is now an artist of many sorts: a talented illustrator with over 300 titles to his name, designer, and paper engineer. He lives with his wife, daughter and a menagerie of animals near Horsham, West Sussex.
