The Adventures of Hotrod and Pilot Fish is a new adult novel following the misadventures of five best friends from high school. The protagonist is an acid induced split personality divided between the primary narrator and the Pilot Fish, a time traveling poet warrior of the ancient tradition. His best friend is Hotrod a sex fiend who needs to learn how to use a rubber and be less concerned with the material, but who is the best friend anyone on self-destruct could have.The protagonist is in love with Jani who is beautiful, sad, artistic, intellectual, damaged and unbreakable. The tragic failure of love between her and the protagonist is the primary conflict of the first half of the book.Then you have Wild Child who is physical, hot and on an out of control runaway train wreck journey to find herself. Alongside Wild you have Bonk who is just a simple guy trying to get along with his abuse of hallucinogens.These five grow up together, fall in love together and fall apart together relying on one another as they all struggle to find out who they are as individuals and how to survive in the world at large.The plot focuses on the comings together and falling apart of the above mentioned cast of characters juxtaposed with a superstructure of prologue, interlude and epilogue where the historical and philosophical tensions in the work are brought to bear. It's a solid effort at fusing high art and gritty street performance with a few laughs and a few tears along the way.
