Contains Spoilers: Keep Reading?

I bought this book before I'd even seen the movie, but after finishing the movie and feeling pretty underwhelmed by it I was hoping that at least learning about how they transitioned from the source material (childrens comics which I read as a child) to a fully rendered 3D movie would be more intriguing. Needless to say I plowed through the book in about 2hrs but still finished it not too impressed. Sure it had plenty of art and there was text and explanations sprinkled throughout it about certain elements, ideas and paths they had to take but it was just so displeasing... Perhaps it had to do with several large double page spreads of just a concept art which wasn't too mesmerizing, or a single page filled with just two pics of the school bus with no explanation for why it was there. There was a single random page of various vehicles but once again no further insight. At some points in the book the info they had provided was repeated, I hoped as I kept reading that maybe this time it'd be elaborated but it wasn't. I think the introduction at the beginning of the book by the original author drawn as a comic was engaging but gave the overall impression like the rest of the book did - they just had to fill in space to make the 150pg quota. ..
