The first novel is a Lovecraftian-style science fantasy, "The Deep End" by Armchair Fiction editor, Gregory Luce. There were monsters in the watery depths. It was a summer day, 1965. On the surface everything seemed normal. A nice family pool on a hot day with dozens of children and adults splashing about. There were college and high school students on the prowl, too, looking for attractive members of the opposite sex--and none was more attractive than the new female lifeguard in the two-piece swimming suit. Upon their arrival they found a farmer who was hesitant to talk--seemingly afraid of someone or some thing. Then at the local jail there was the strange 19-year old who couldn't even speak English, who didn't have a stitch of clothing to his name, who seemed to want to stay in jail. But when the youth turned up dead, the story took a horrifying turn into the unknown. Soon, out of the darkness of the night came an unbelievable man with a crystal; and out of that same darkness came a terrifying power...
