Spain and Portugal are located on the Iberian Peninsula. The Pyrenees mountains are located on the northeast edge of the peninsula where it connects with the rest of the European continent. Gibraltar is located on the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula. The region has a long history, featuring Roman times, the Moorish period and Portuguese and Spanish Imperial history.
