Cheonbugyeong (天符經) is a treatise that elucidates the most fundamental numerical principles of physics. Although its principles have neither a beginning (始, si) nor an end (終, jong), all things in the universe are mere empty phases (空相, gongsang) and illusions (幻影, hwanyoung). However, without these illusions, the truth (眞, jin) can’t be revealed. Therefore, the sages rely on the illusory (假, ga) to illuminate the truth, enabling ordinary beings (凡生, beomsaeng) to recognize the essence and return to the truth. It can be said that its virtuous influence (德化, deoghwa) is profound.
