1001 Dark Nights Press is excited to present the winners of the 2020 short story challenge...

When we started 1001 Dark Nights back in 2014, it was with the goal of discovery—creating a way for readers to find new-to-them bestselling authors and fall in love with their stories and their worlds.

This year, we held a contest where romance authors could submit a short story to be included in a 1001 Dark Nights anthology, and we were blown away by the results. We received hundreds of entries, and while we wish we could include everyone, we’re thrilled to introduce you to these thirty-six incredible authors:

Fiona Archer ~ Louisa Bacio ~ Laura M. Baird ~ Kait Ballenger ~ Asa Maria Bradley ~ Eden Bradley ~ Boone Brux ~ C.G. Burnette ~ Cara Carnes ~ Caraway Carter ~ Sierra Cartwright ~ S.A. Clayton ~ Katana Collins ~ Janie Crouch ~ Patricia D. Eddy ~ Zoey Ellis ~ Zoe Hill ~ Sara L. Hudson ~ Tracey Jerald ~ A.D. Justice ~ Terri E. Laine ~ Michelle Mars ~ Gina L. Maxwell ~ Kayt Miller ~ Dani René ~ Gen Ryan ~ Blue Saffire ~ Ella Sheridan ~ Mayra Statham ~ Delancey Stewart ~ Jen Talty ~ Mary Ting ~ Reina Torres ~ Magan Vernon ~ Jennifer Woodhull ~ Khloe Wren

We hope you love the stories as much as we do. If so, we encourage you to check out the other books by these wonderful authors. Each and every one is unique and special.

Kait Ballenger

Kait Ballenger hated reading when she was a child, because she was horrible at it. Then by chance she picked up the Harry Potter series, magically fell in love with reading, and never looked back. When she realized shortly after that she could tell her own stories, and they could be about falling in love, her fate was sealed. She earned her B.A in English from Stetson University-like the Stetson cowboy hat-followed by an M.F.A in Writing from Spalding University.

After stints working as a real vampire aka a phlebotomist, a bingo caller, a professional bellydancer, and an adjunct English professor, Kait finally decided that her eight-year-old self knew best: she's meant to be a romance writer.

When Kait's not preoccupied with writing captivating paranormal romance, page-turning suspense or love scenes that make even seasoned romance readers blush, she can usually be found spending time with her family, being an accidental crazy cat lady (she has 4 now-don't ask), or with her nose buried in a good book. She loves to travel, especially abroad, and experience new places. She lives in Florida with her doting librarian husband, her adorable young son, a loveable mangy mutt of a dog, and the four conniving felines.

Sierra Cartwright

Born in Manchester, England and raised in the US, Sierra Cartwright is the acclaimed author of more than twenty erotic romances. She was previously published with Harlequin/Silhouette under a different pseudonym, and won numerous awards as well as a coveted spot on the USA Today bestseller list.

Cartwright has been interviewed by USA Today, featured on the Mail Online and she did a segment for the Orlando Fox affiliate with Chase Cain for her inclusion in the Clandestine Classics collection by Totally Bound which received worldwide coverage.

She's a multiple CAPA nominated author who was delighted by the success of With This Collar, the first book in a six-book series Mastered from Totally Bound. With This Collar reached No.1 on the Amazon UK chart and No.3 in the Amazon US chart. More recently, Bind, the first in a three-book series The Donovan Dynasty has also reached No.1 on the Amazon US chart. Winner of the 2013 Best BDSM Book of the Year award (Over the Line), the 2014 LASR Book of the Year award (In The Den), and the 2015 Golden Flogger (Crave)

Janie Crouch

USA Today and award-winning author Janie Crouch has loved to read romance her whole life. She cut her teeth on Harlequin Romances as a teen, then moved on to a passion for romantic suspense as an adult.

Janie lives with her husband and four children in Germany, in support of her husband's U.S. Department of Defense job. Janie enjoys traveling, long-distance running, movies of all kinds, and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.
