Greenwitch is an amazing book in the Dark is Rising series, raising the fantasy level a notch and bringing all the characters from the previous adventures to meet each other for the fight against the darkness.

Greenwitch introduces the wild magic, unaffiliated with the Dark or the Light, and describes the characters attempts to control it for their own ends. Returning to the setting of the first novel, Will Stanton and the Drew children must join forces to control the ancient Greenwitch.

This novel deals with darker scenes than the previous two, but Susan Cooper's writing and knowledge of Welsh and Irish legends creates an atmospheric novel that was childhood fantasy long before Harry Potter.
