They meet in the present day, and Listener, who receives the stories within her highly receptive mind, journeys on under the guidance and direction of the Elder.The Friend is ever-present as she sits in the cozy chair, being told the stories as they unfold.

The Elder is a mysterious figure, an ever-changing form, and is the keeper and guardian of the Library of All Knowledge.The memory stories often begin in the atrium of this Library, which itself appears differently each time as it reflects what is about to be shown.
