The Arabian Nights' Entertainments (Also known as A Thousand and One Nights) is a collection of medieval Middle Eastern folklore tales about brave individuals such as Aladdin, Ali Baba and Sinbad, whose luck and wit lead them through a full-blown adventure. danger First compiled in the fifteenth century, the stories entered Western culture in the early eighteenth century when they were translated into French. The permission to do so comes as part of the 1842 Tariff Act, which gives local customs authorities discretion, whose decisions are usually appealed to the U.S. Customs Court. The customs ruling is still under review by the Treasury Department. The arrest replaces state and local laws and typically means a loss of access to the entire U.S. market by importers.
