Deep in the cold darkness of interstellar space, the last hope for mankind hurtles silently towards an unknown future. The “generation colony” living within the belly of their terraformed asteroid must survive the thousand-year journey to colonise the planets around a new star. Each new generation of young colonists representing a link in an unbroken chain of humanity, carry the hopes and dreams of mankind’s succession to the stars.

But for Porl and Gwen, our young protagonists, the only challenge that matters is to survive adolescence. In a world where their lives are controlled, their urges suppressed and their dreams ignored, nothing makes sense. Their lives are a based on a lie.

Through sheer chance they stumble on a terrible secret that must be exposed. In trying to understand their world, Gwen is imprisoned by the Elders for transgressing the Code of Delphi: the moral edicts controlling their lives. Porl escapes to a dark exile where he is rescued by an unlikely ally.

Together, with an Elder who seeks redemption, they execute a cunning plan to save Gwen, their lives and their world. But as they seek success their hopes are dashed, time and time again until a final showdown leads to a nail-biting conclusion.
