The story is set in the distant future, specifically in the 22nd century. The protagonist, Graham, is a man who falls into a deep, trance-like sleep in the late 19th century due to a medical condition. However, he unexpectedly awakens in the distant future, finding himself in a world vastly different from the one he knew.In this future world, society has been transformed, and a small elite, known as the "White Council," controls the vast majority of humanity. The common people live in oppressive conditions, serving the interests of the elite. As Graham tries to make sense of this strange new world, he becomes a figurehead for a growing revolutionary movement among the oppressed masses."When the Sleeper Wakes" explores themes of class struggle, social injustice, and the consequences of unchecked power. It also raises questions about the impact of technological advancements on society and the potential for dystopian futures.H.G. Wells, known for his imaginative and thought-provoking science fiction, created a gripping narrative that is both a thrilling adventure and a critique of societal inequalities. The novel remains relevant for its exploration of themes that continue to resonate in contemporary discussions about the future and the role of technology in society.

H. G. Wells

Herbert George "H. G." Wells (September 21, 1866-August 13, 1946) was an English author, best known for his work in the "speculative fiction" genre. He was also a prolific writer in many other genres, including contemporary novels, history, politics, and social commentary.

Wells is sometimes called "The Father of Science Fiction," along with Jules Verne. The War of the Worlds was written in the age of British colonialism, and Wells came up with the idea for the story while he and his brother were imagining what might happen if someone came to colonize England the way England had other countries.
