A trinity is born as Kansas City's finest jazz musicians once again unite to benefit Project Warmth. Like it's predecessors, 'Warm' and 'Warm Christmas,' this collaboration captures the authentic rhythms and character that created the wonderful legacy of Kansas City jazz. 'Warming Up Kansas City' is an echo of the sounds that resonate through our town: a whisper of our proud heritage and a rustling of a future filled with warm days and nights for all. I have been privileged to serve as executive producer of this album as well as 1993's 'Warm' and 1997's 'Warm Christmas' for The Kansas City Star, but I attribute the true genius behind these efforts to Michael T. White. Mike's altruistic spirit and contribution to our community are paralleled only by his magical control of the saxophone. Were it not for Mike's desire to combine his passion for music with his passion for Kansas City, these magnificent musicians would not have had the opportunity to come together over the years for such a wonderful cause. Special thanks to each of these talented performers, to engineer Ron Ubel for his brilliance at the board, to The Kansas City Star, Diane Scott, Robin Langdon, Vickie Bottinger, and to everyone whose support of these productions has helped bring this album to the people of Kansas City. Curtis Pickering, executive producer.
