Milla Bogdanova Jovovich was was born on December 17th, 1975 in Kiev, Ukraine.

In one of the Soviet Union’s most important military bases and fastest growing cities, Milla was born into a culture that was quickly being absorbed by Russia. Post World War Two, intellectuals and Ukrainian nationalists faced oppression and were forced to conform to a Soviet way of life.

Her mother, Galina Loginova, had moved to Moscow as a teenager to pursue a career as an actress.

She had some success; she appeared on several popular Soviet television shows before meeting Milla’s father in 1973.

A Serbian doctor, Bogic Jovovich was a foreigner to the Ukraine.
