Almost 90,000 fans braved the less-than-favourable Melbourne weather to witness Collingwood reign supreme at the MCG, defeating Essendon by 20 points in the 21st Anzac Day Game.
In what was a scrappy game in the wet, both teams applied immense pressure in a very tight opening half contest, before Collingwood dug deep and managed to break away in the third term. Whilst a number of players delivered excellent performances, it was Collingwood's Paul Seedsman who shined brightest on the day to take home a well-deserved and highly coveted ANZAC Medal.
Collingwood now have five wins in six years in the Anzac Day contest, with the final scores on the day sitting at 9.15 (69) to 6.13 (49).
