Four teenagers from four different ethnic backgrounds, growing up in late 80s Australia - Fatima (Fatima Uygun), dreams of a professional career, however her traditional Turkish family expect her to leave school for an arranged marriage. Angie (Sheryl Munks), is pregnant. Her Catholic mother is making decisions on Angies behalf, and her independence is slipping away. Saret (Vichea Ten) works hard to support his family, and dreams of acceptance into Australian society. Alex (Jim Petrovski) is desperate to grow up, but his life choices hold him back. Its the inner city; and these four long for success and inclusion in a tough world where unemployment, drugs, teenage pregnancy, racism and crime seem your only chance for survival. Their lives are drawn together, and they learn the value of friendship against the odds.
