From the Academy Award-winning producer of MAN ON WIRE comes a powerful, unforgettable music mystery. Rodriguez was the greatest '70s US rock icon who never was. Momentarily hailed as the finest recording artist of his generation, he disappeared into oblivion - rising again from the ashes in a completely different context a continent away... SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN is a film about hope, inspiration and the power of music.

  • A film that will strum the heart strings

    by on

History was not kind to Sixto Rodriguez. A hard working labourer by day and guitarist with a sound like Bob Dylan by night, he released two albums in the early 70's but didn't really make much of an impact, fading into obscurity in the back of dusty record stores.

What he or many others didn't realise was that halfway across the globe in South Africa his music was having an inspiring effect on the anti apartheid movement.

While the short career of Rodriguez drew many of his South African fans to assume he was dead, one die hard decides to find out for sure.

Truly an unbelievable and surprising story with a soundtrack that you will have to add to your collection.
