'You're breaking up with me!'
He was silent.
'In Paris.'
Eyes dropping.
'Under the Eiffel-fucking-Tower!' I screamed.

Twenty-five-year-old Claire Shorten had looked forward to spending a romantic weekend in Paris for as long as she could remember, and now it was here - three blissful days of strolling through cobbled streets arm-in-arm with her beloved, eating copious amounts of baked goods and soaking up the culture through each and every pore of her body. Well, at least, that was how she'd pictured it . . .

Even after her boyfriend dumps her rather unceremoniously in the most romantic place on earth, Claire is determined not to give up on her dream altogether with or without a boyfriend. She finds herself a job in the kitchen of a small hotel; Michelin-starred it most certainly is not, but somehow Claire makes a place for herself amidst the dirty dishes and the foreign misfits who run the place.

When the restaurant attracts the attention of the enigmatic if not slightly terrifying - tycoon Louis Delarue, and Claire manages to survive his high-powered business luncheon from hell, she knows that she can survive anything, surely. But all bets are off when Louis makes a game-changing decision: he's coming back for a second course . . .

Claire had dreamt of visiting Paris her whole life so when on a weekend to Paris with her boyfriend Liam, Claire hoped when they stopped under the Eiffel Tower that Liam was going to propose to her, but he didn't, he dumped her instead. As Claire wanders her way back to their hotel it starts to rain, just her luck, and then some maniac in a black Audi drives past soaking her. Claire goes to confront the driver who cracks open his window, lowers his sunglasses and just looks at her. Claire looses her nerve and storms off into the hotel. When Claire and Liam check out of the hotel the next day Claire changes her mind, not wanting to go back to London with Liam but to stay in Paris for a little while longer. When she goes to check back in and is advised the hotel is booked out, Cecile the hotel manager, lets Claire stay on the 6th floor. Cecile and Claire come to an agreement regarding Claire's stay. The hotel staff are in a panic as the hotel is to be assessed by a well known Paris Chef, Louis Delarue, and his team over lunch. Claire assists and whilst serving drinks she gets her first look at the man from the car who just happens to be Louis Delarue. Unfortunately Claire knocks his glass of water over and it soaks his crotch. Here the journey begins. Whilst the hotel staff, and pretty much everyone, is nervous of Louis, Claire isn't as she doesn't know who he is or his reputation, her sister Sammi tells her who he is. The eventual hotel transformation is truly incredible but Claire returns back to London not long after it has started. Staying with a friend in London and talking with her sister Claire decides on one last trip to Paris before returning home to Melbourne. Claire visits the hotel just before leaving to catch her train back to London and Is blown away by the transformation after having a tour with Gaston. Claire asks Gaston, who has been promoted to Reception Manager, to call a taxi for her, which he does. Claire checks with Gaston as she has been waiting a long time for the taxi, which she was told had just arrived as they were speaking. To Claire's shock her taxi is Louis. What happens next I will let you find out for yourselves.
I loved this book. This is the first book by this author I have read and I loved it so much I bought the other two in the series - New York Nights and London Bound.
