Roger Monk was born in Adelaide and grew up on the Yorke Peninsula and the Mid and Lower North of South Australia. He spent many years in banking and five years in management development in the Australian automotive manufacturing industry before joining the University of South Australia. For many years he specialised in HRM, managerial and organisational behaviour, the psychological implications of business practices and as a supervisor of Honours, Masters and Ph.D. students. He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and holds a Masters degree in Organisational Behaviour, an MBA and a Doctorate in Human and Organisational Psychology., He has done substantial overseas research, lectured extensively in Hong Kong and Singapore and has worked at the University of California, Berkeley, and at Cornell University. His first venture into crime writing was The Bank Inspector, and that was followed by The Bank Manager and The Bank Teller, making a trilogy of published, true-to-life fictional mysteries set in the early 1950’s pre-modern era of Australian banking.
