Synopsis

With an impressive line-up of participants (Designers Republic, E-boy, Designershock, Matt Owens and many more) RMX aims to draw out the secret child in all of us. Initiated by prestigious design group Rinzen and based, in the broadest sense, on the principle of Chinese whispers, this collection of 12 chapters exploits the tendency for spontaneous reinvention and thriving network character of the design community. Containing a total of 16 steps (with initial designs supplied by Rinzen), each series requires the designers to take their predecessor's output as a blueprint and inspiration for their own image, retaining total freedom to remix the input, to pick out, discard or keep whatever they might desire. The resulting work is passed on to the next link in this virtual chain letter, achieving a remarkably varied, but strangely cohesive collection of images and at the same time emphasizing the strength of unusual collaborative efforts.
