This 20-volume edition completely supersedes the earlier 14-volume work. The first nine volumes contain fiction and non-fiction, edited from the original manuscripts by Davison, in accordance with Orwell's intentions. Volumes 10-20 are an attempt to print everything else that Orwell wrote. They carry full textual explanations and annotations and include over 700 reviews, political articles, letters, essays and material from Orwell's days at the BBC. Included in the latter are braodcasts covering drama, modern poetry, film, psychology and important programmes on the contemporary problem of India. Each volume includes an index, and there is a cumulative index in the final volume.
