A young single mother tells her son that his hero, Batman, can't fly - and in an effort to prove her wrong the son ends up in casualty. It is the start of a downward spiral. The mother becomes increasingly preoccupied by men - first as a means of escape, and then as a means of survival. Neglected, her son struggles to escape the bitter realities of poverty and violence. But hunger eventually forces him to accept the advances of a man on the street. When the man turns nasty, an open window offers the only chance of escape and he decides to try and prove once again that Batman can fly . . . This is a haunting, dark story about people trapped in lives they do not wish to lead.
