Like Ambrose's other books, this one is excellently researched and the battle minutely detailed.
Like Band of Brothers and D-Day the reader empathises with the men.
The book also reveals how the British wasted an elite airborne unit after D-Day using them as a general infantry unit. He rightly points out that the unit was trained to perfection to take a bridge from an airborne strike, they could have been pulled out after their success of D-Day and then used in this role again in Market-Garden.
