Pulitzer-Prize winning poet Gwendolyn Brooks is one of the great American literary icons of the twentieth century, a prot g of Langston Hughes and mentor to a generation of poets, including Sonia Sanchez, Nikki Giovanni, and Elizabeth Alexander.
