The houses in the black settlement of Buxton Ontario built by free people of African heritage establish the credibility when compared to a neighboring white settlement in the same area. Each culture, when coming to the New World brought the memory of how they built their houses in the Old World. Credit has been given to all for their dwelling types except black builders. The book preserves and continues cultural history in house forms of black builders and the legacy of African influences in Architecture
