Finds from Nuzi culture continue to provide new insights into the languages and civilization of Mesopotamia in the 15th and 14th centuries BCE. This collection of recent research on the study of the Nuzi archives, associated archaeological remains, and the parallel growth of the corpus of Hurrian texts and archaeological remains from Anatolia and Syria, stems from a July 1998 conference held at Harvard University. Some papers present general overviews on various aspects of Nuzi and Hurrian archives, society, and culture, while others offer more detailed studies of texts, language, history, and geography. A few papers are not in English. Editor information is not given. The volume lacks a subject index. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
