Installed as Bishop of Merseburg in 1004, Thietmar recorded in his Chronicle that Bishop Eido died on December 20, 1015, while passing throug "urbs Libzi." Thus began the documented history of Leipzig, which is now celebrating its 1000th anniversary. On this occasion, city guide Sebastian Ringel has written a volume of engaging narratives summarizing the history of the Saxon tradeshow city. The book contains historical stories and features fascinating anecdotes on many famous Leipzig figures.
