Universities, colleges and training providers are experiencing considerable changes in the demands made on them as a result of, for example, growing student numbers and the changing needs of employers. Flexible learning, the term used to describe more learner-centred approaches to teaching and learning, offers these institutions opportunities to improve the quality of their instruction while better meeting the needs of learners.;The papers presented in this volume draw on the presentations made at the Association for Education and Training Technology International 1995 Conference. Aspects of flexible learning are examined by the international team of contributors, including: materials development, staff support and development, flexible learning resources, improving accessibility, learner autonomy, assessment, quality and using new technologies.
