Sally Jo Webster

Sally is a grazier who grew up on a cattle station in Northwest Queensland, where she still lives and works today. She loves nothing more than sharing her life with her husband and children in the bush. She is your typical “jack of all trades” acting as mum, cook, ringer, gardener, bookkeeper and wife (to name a few). ‘Beryl the Brahman’ is her first children’s book based on the survival story of the orphaned calf Sally and her family saved – Beryl. To Sally, it is an ode to all the poddy calves who came into people’s lives and changed them in more ways than anyone could ever imagine.

I bought this book for my great niece in England to show her the different animals we have in Australia. Even though the story line and the illustrations were great, where were all the animals? A flock of cockatoos, a mob of 'roos and a herd of camels. After all they were lost in the outback.
