Twenty and not married? Certainly a spinster would be thrilled to have a suitable marriage. But the question of marrying for love of a man or for love of an estate is what confronts Fortune Lindley, heir to Maguire's Ford, her family's estate in Ulster, Ireland. Headstrong like all the rest of the women in her family, there is nothing that will force her to marry William Devers, an Irish Protestant, just to inherit her beloved home.
