At the outbreak of World War I, while a neutral America slept, German sabotage agents set out to destroy her industries and war-fighting capabilities: they built hundreds of improvised bombs; plotted to set fire to forests; injected germs into warhorses; carried out assassinations from Maryland to Texas; encouraged labor strikes; incited racial unrest and sowed division amongst the American public by planting fake news stories and pro-German propaganda in newspapers, movies, and magazines.
