As an Australian I'm probably not the target audience for this book but I feel that it wasn't as good as most reviews indicated. It felt a bit repetitive and formulaic, as if Bryson was going through the motions or didn't know what he should be visiting. Also, I did not really get a sense of the love he professes to have for Australia other than as a novelty. Down Under certainly is informative and has some very funny passages. It's also an easy, pleasant read but was a bit disappointing overall.
