An ingenious and tender vision of the world of monsters, Patrick McDonnell surprises again with a story whose deceiving simplicity hides a reflection on human beings and their interiority. Once upon a time, there were three little monsters who lived in a terrible castle at the top of a terrible mountain. They spent all day discussing who was the baddest, most horrible, and most terrible of them all--but they could never agree. One day, they decided to create an enormous monster. They wanted it to be the baddest, most horrible, and most terrible monster ever on the face of the earth--and that way they stopped arguing. They got to work and created a gigantic creature. And yet, when it came to life, the three little monsters were faced with a big surprise.
