In Falling Upward, Father Richard Rohr offers a new way of understanding one of the most profound of life's mysteries: how our failing can be the foundation for our ongoing spiritual growth. Drawing on the wisdom from time-honoured myths, heroic poems, great thinkers, and sacred religious texts, the author explores the two halves of life to show that those who have fallen, failed, or 'gone down' are the only ones who understand 'up'. We grow spiritually more by doing it wrong than by doing it right.

This is a book written by a Catholic monk. It was lent by a friend and I initially thought I wouldn't enjoy it due to its inherently christian content. What a gift this book is to anyone confronting their older age and in fact to anyone examining the deeper issues of life. Richard Rohr is a true mystic whose understanding of life goes way beyond his christian beliefs. I immediately bought a copy for myself and a fair few of my friends will receive it as a gift. Many topics to ponder. A great comfort.
