How do educators lead schools that consistently produce excellent results? In Leading a High Reliability School, authors Robert J. Marzano, Philip B. Warrick, Cameron L. Rains, and Richard DuFour say the key lies in Professional Learning Communities at Work (PLCs), a whole-school or whole-district effort in which teams collaborate in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for students. A high reliability school embraces this cultural transformation. In this book, K-12 administrators will learn how to transform their schools into high reliability schools, using five levels: (1) a safe, supportive, and collaborative culture; (2) effective teaching in every classroom; (3) a guaranteed and viable curriculum; (4) standards-referenced reporting; and (5) competency-based education. With the data-driven instruction and collaborative teaching strategies in this book, leaders will boost academic achievement schoolwide. Readers will: Learn how to lead high reliability schools with the PLC process as the foundation, Explore the five levels of a high reliability school, Examine the characteristics of effective school leaders, Identify the criteria to determine priority learning standards, Understand how to balance districtwide goals to ensure school success Book jacket.
