Great text book to start learning the Hangul alphabet. Has explanations on how to write the characters and examples of different writing styles so you can get familiar with everyday writing. The trace and draw pages are good for those wanting to practice in the book. Each character page also explains the sounds (for example, ‘u’ as in ‘bus’) and helps you understand how your mouth, lips and tongue are positioned. Has quizzes and practice grids throughout the book. Also includes a chapter on numbers, months, colours and an awesome list on common words, although it would have been better if there was a third column with the romanised spelling to help new learners. Overall I rate this book 5 stars for someone self learning Korean as a newbie. If you are already familiar with the characters, it is a good refresher book but would be a little too basic, so would only be 4 stars.
