Although it is a story of loss and gratitude,

it is mostly a story of love.

Never Too Late to Tell is a book about family, loss, grief and a reflection on the meaningful life of the author's firstborn son, Robbie, thirty years on from his tragic accidental death.

In this book, the author shares the gift of how much Robbie taught her and all the lessons and wisdom he brought to her life. Through the reminiscing of their family life, the author tells her son all the things she never told him during his lifetime of eighteen years, how she met and fell in love with his father as a carefree backpacker, his unplanned arrival and the shame she confronted as an unwed mother in 1970s England. In reminiscing with Robbie about his growing up as the family moved around with his dad's work she honours his life.

Robbie's magnetic charm and sense of humour are honoured and treasured, and he lives on via these words.

What a beautiful book. A privilege to read a snippet of the life of an adventurous young woman and mother, as well as a young man whose life was tragically cut so short.

Thirty years on from the sudden accidental death from her son, Robbie, M A Hughes writes to him in this memoir. Never Too Late to Tell tells the story of a mother;s love for her first-born and the secret she never told him before he tragically died at 18. Readers will be entertained by Hughes' travel adventures as a single young woman in the 1970s and then with her husband and young family. Readers will be deeply moved as she recalls the shock of Robbie's sudden death and her determination to honour his life. I highly recommend this book.

After tragically losing her son in a sudden accident, M.A. Hughes has a deep journey of grief and healing over time. A lovely insight into travelling as a hitchhiker in the early 70's and a story that had to be told to her son.
