Kate Scott

Kate Scott was born in London of American parents. She has lived in Hong Kong, Paris, Scotland and two tiny villages in France, but now lives in Dorset with her husband and two children. Kate's poems have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and her short fiction on Radio 4 Extra.

Her first published children's novel was Boy in Tights which developed into the three-book series, Spies in Disguise. Kate leads poetry workshops for children in conjunction with Tor Theatre and runs creative writing sessions with bookshops and schools across the UK.

Jamie Smart

Jamie Smart studied art at college for four years, but it was just an excuse to practise drawing animals with boggly-eyes.

In 2013, Jamie's comic FISH-HEAD STEVE became the first work of its sort to be shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Jamie lives in Kent, just south of London.

Chris Powling

Chris Powling was editor of the children's book magazine Books for Keeps from 1989-1996 when it won the Eleanor Farjeon Award for services to children's literature, has served on numerous prize panels and is consultant to a national children's book club.

He has written more than sixty books for children including The Mustang Machine, The Phantom Carwash, The Conker As Hard As A Diamond and The Multi-Million Pound Mascot.

Galia Bernstein

Galia Bernstein was born and raised in Israel. She worked as the art director of two Israeli children's magazines before moving to New York City to study illustration at the Parsons School of Design. Galia currently works as a freelance illustrator and is the author-illustrator of Leyla and I Am a Cat, which received three starred reviews. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Matt Robertson

Matt Robertson graduated with a Masters in Children's Book Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art in 2014 and in 2016 he was shortlisted for the Waterstones Book Prize (illustrated category).

He lives and works in Norwich, UK
