British teen Roger and his family are vacationing in France at the Chateau de Bois-Serpe, where the only other inhabitants are the sullen, unkempt Monsieur Serpe and his daughter, Melusine. When Monsieur Serpe orders Roger to keep away from Melusine, Roger begins to suspect that something sinister is going on at the inn.
