The bard Taliesin, foster brother of Arthur, heir to the throne of Keltia, narrates this story of Arthur's rebellion against Edeyrn, the tyranical Death-druid who overthrew the Royal House of Don and has ruled Keltia through sorcery and bloodshed for the past two hundred years. The sequel is The Oak Above the Kings (NAL, 1994). This series is set 1500 years earlier in the same world as Kennealy's Tales of Aeron series (1984-1988): The Copper Crown (1984), The Throne of Scone (1986, 1987), and The Silver Branch (1988).
