Chase Insteadman is living off his earnings as a child star. He owes his current social status to his teenage sweetheart, Janice Trumbull, who is trapped by a layer of low-orbit mines on the International Space Station. Then Perkus Tooth, a pop-critic, whose riffs are fueled by marijuana, cheeseburgers & an ache for meaning, enters Chase's life.
