Kara LaReau was an editor at Candlewick until she became a full-time writer.

She has published many acclaimed picture books for children including Ugly Fish, Rabbit & Squirrel, Otto: The Boy Who Loved Cars, and the Geisel Award-winning chapter book series The Infamous Ratsos. She lives in Providence.

Matt Myers is the illustrator of many books for young readers, including E-I-E-I-O: How Old MacDonald Got His Farm with a Little Help from a Hen, written by Judy Sierra, and Bartholomew Biddle and the Very Big Wind, written by Gary Ross. Matt Myers earns his doubloons by painting in North Carolina, USA.
