The Council of United Worlds abducts Alaine Star to negotiate with the aggressive Clans of Dalar. Her role as the Council's mediator is a welcome change from outcast status on Earth. Unfortunately, Dartan, the Clan's envoy and liaison to the feared AcTyn warriors, isn't interested in compromise. He is a vicious fighter and has a lousy sense of humor.
