A horrific massacre in a small Mississippi town leaves the local PD baffled. Before a more thorough investigation can be launched, however, the whole thing is swept away as if it never occurred. Determined to find clear answers, two lawmen begin their own crusade for the truth. One of them, Police Lieutenant Jared Brewer, finds himself embroiled in the mystery in a more personal way than he'd thought possible. Recalling a strange and perhaps fictitious story about one of his infamous and long dead ancestors, Jared digs into the past, reliving the final days of the man Mason Brewer, and making a shocking connection between a chaotic figure his ancestor Mason knew, and the perpetrator of the mysterious massacre which had failed to make the news.
